The Roots of Weight Gain

Let's remember that gaining or retaining extra weight is a symptom of something more profound. The real culprit in this issue is an underlying cause or need. Successfully reducing and managing weight requires this root cause to be discovered and addressed. Hypnotherapy offers a fast and efficient way to achieve this goal.

Weight management clients can offer a wide range of reasons for their issues. A person's weight issues may have roots in childhood or abusive experiences, self-esteem, addiction, fear, stress, habits, or even a past life. You name it—it may be the reason they retain extra pounds.

Finding a resolution and making the needed changes can still be challenging, even when the client knows the cause of the excess weight. If it were easy, they wouldn't need to seek the help of a hypnotherapist.

Most clients try to make the changes independently, even seeking many alternative ways to overcome the symptoms or fight the habits. By the time they contact a hypnotherapist, they've likely tried many diets, fluctuated up and down with their weight, and have become desperate. Often they declare that turning to hypnosis is their "last resort."

"I've been overweight for over 30 years. In 2004, at 307 pounds, I had open heart surgery to replace my aorta valve. After the surgery, I dieted and reduced to 245 pounds. Since then, I have yo-yoed back and forth between 260 to 300 pounds. For several years I had maintained 260 pounds. About two months ago, I started to gain weight again. Now I'm at 280. I believe that hypnotherapy is my last resort to lose weight." ~ Weight management client

If diets don't work, what's a person to do when they want and need to reduce weight? Simply knowing you need to move your body more and eat more healthful food in moderation may seem simple. Yet, people continue to overeat, eat unhealthy foods, and move their bodies less and less for many reasons.

A person may know why they are overweight even though they may feel helpless to change this condition permanently. Other people may be unaware of the reason for their extra pounds. Working with a hypnotherapist allows a person to understand themselves and their behaviors better and become healthier by uncovering and releasing the real underlying issue!
